International Tiger Day 2023

International Tiger Day has been created so that people around the world can raise awareness for tiger conservation. The aim of the day is to help promote a worldwide system whereby we are dedicated to protecting tigers and their natural habitats.

History Of International Tiger Day

This was first celebrated in 2010 and was founded at an international summit that had been called in response to the shocking news that 97% of all wild tigers had disappeared in the last century, with only around 3,000 left alive.

Tigers are on the brink of extinction and International Tiger Day aims to bring attention to this fact and try to halt their decline. Many factors have caused their numbers to fall, including habitat loss, climate change, hunting and poaching and Tiger Day aims to protect and expand their habitats and raise awareness of the need for conservation.

They understood the pressing requirement for coordinated efforts to preserve and safeguard these wonderful big cats and their habitats. They choose to set aside a day each year to promote tiger conservation and the difficulties it faces as part of their commitment. The 29th of July was chosen as International Tiger Day because it represents the halfway point between the first and last days of the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit and the ongoing international campaign to rescue tigers.

*"ಇಡೀ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಭವ್ಯವಾದ ಜೀವಿ, ಹುಲಿ" ಎಂದು ಜ್ಯಾಕ್ ಹನ್ನಾ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಅಕ್ಷರಶಃ ಸತ್ಯ.ಹುಲಿಗಳ ವಾಸಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲು, ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲು & ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು.ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರವು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನೋಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಅದರ ಹಿರಿಮೆ & ನೈತಿಕ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಳೆಯಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ವಿಶ್ವದಾದ್ಯಂತ  ಜುಲೈ 29 ರಂದು "ವಿಶ್ವ ಹುಲಿ" ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.ಅಪಾಯದಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹುಲಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಹುಲಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವುದು ಈ ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ.*

ಇತಿಹಾಸ:

*ವಿಶ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಜುಲೈ 29  ಒಂದು ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ದಿನ.ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಈ ದಿನದಂದು ಹಲವಾರು ದೇಶಗಳು 2010 ರಲ್ಲಿ ರಷ್ಯಾದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಪೀಟರ್ಸ್ಬರ್ಗ್ ಟೈಗರ್ ಶೃಂಗಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಿ ಹಾಕಿದವು. ಜಾಗತಿಕವಾಗಿ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹುಲಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು & ಹುಲಿಗಳ ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ ಆವಾಸಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವುದು ಈ ಒಪ್ಪಂದದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಶವಾಗಿದೆ.ಅಲ್ಲದೆ 2022ರ ಅಂತ್ಯದ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಹುಲಿ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯ ದೇಶಗಳು ಹುಲಿ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ದ್ವಿಗುಣವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದೂ ವಿವಿಧ ದೇಶಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ಅಂದು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದರು.

2018ರ ಹುಲಿ ಗಣತಿಯಂತೆ
ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅಂದರೆ 526 ಹುಲಿಗಳಿವೆ.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಎರಡನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು 524 ಹುಲಿಗಳಿವೆ.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ 5 ಹುಲಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿತ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಿವೆ.

2010ರಲ್ಲಿ ರಷ್ಯಾದ St.Petersburg' ಹುಲಿ ಸಮಿತಿಯು July 29ನ್ನು ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹುಲಿ ದಿನವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸುವ ನಿರ್ಣಯ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿತು.

13 ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಹುಲಿಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವುಗಳೆಂದರೆ :-
ಬಾಂಗ್ಲಾದೇಶ ,ಭೂತಾನ್ ,ಕಾಂಬೋಡಿಯ,ಚೀನಾ ,ಭಾರತ ,ಇಂಡೋನೇಷಿಯಾ , ಲಾವೋಸ್, ಮಲೇಷ್ಯಾ, ಮಯನ್ಮಾರ್, ನೇಪಾಳ, ರಷ್ಯಾ ,ಥೈಲ್ಯಾಂಡ್, ವಿಯೆಟ್ನಾಂ.

ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ 50 Tiger Reserves ಇವೆ.
